Activities and Excursions
At CELA the excursions are included in the Spanish language program. After lessons, we take you out 3 days a week to the most beautiful places on the island in an comfortable Van.
In Margarita you will find 167 km of inviting beaches, each with a different atmosphere and plenty of opportunities for practicing sports or simply relaxing.
Some places you will discover during our excursions are:
- Pampatar, with the Santiago de La Caranta fortress (1586)
- La Asunción: Capital of Margarita, with the oldest church in South America, and Castillo de Santa Rosa castle
- El Valle del Espíritu Santo
- Juan Griego: Fortress of La Galera (1811)
- La Restinga Lagoon National Park
- and the many different beaches that Margarita has to offer
Activities available for an extra charge:
Windsurfing and sailing: Playa El Yaque is internationally renowned for its steady winds and tranquil waters. Playa El Yaque is 30 minutes away from the school. Car rental is available on the island and is inexpensive.
Diving: Ideal ocean depths for diving can be found in Los Frailes, Coche and Cubagua. Safety is taken care of by PADI qualified companies.
Excursion to Los Roques, Canaima and Delta del Orinoco
Fitness: Fitness centers, spas and excellent tracks for walking, jogging and cycling. There are two fitness centers within walking distance of the school.
Surfing: Local and national surfing enthusiasts meet all year round at Playa Parguito, next to Playa El Agua, for the powerful, medium-sized waves that roll in from the ocean.
Yoga: Yoga is taught by a private teacher close to the school; please ask at the school office for further information.
Hiking: A hiking trip is offered by Senor Antonio. It can be booked at the school.
